## Dhanush is a family action-drama movie released in 2016. It was directed by Atlee. The film's story revolves around two friends - Murugan, who is more talented at martial arts, and Appa Rao, who wears white clothes. The duo are separated when they go to different cities for higher studies. After 7 years of their separation, the two meet again on the sets of a film where Murugan works as an assistant director and Appa Rao stars in his debut project as Chiyaan Vikram Vijay Kumar Srinivasan, while both are married with kids. This film is about Appa Rao's attempts to destroy the false pride that Murugan has developed, and also about how he finally succeeds in doing so. Murugan is a martial arts genius who does not believe in work hard/study hard. He is gifted with incredible talent, but he lacks discipline. When he was a child, his mother died right in front of him while his father remarried Murugan's stepmother who then adopted another girl Zaara(Sana Khan). They live happily until the accident happens, which leaves only Zaara alive, but with all her memories erased. After 7 years, she sees Appa Rao in a newspaper which causes her to remember everything. Meanwhile, Appa Rao has become Macmillan Pharmaceuticals chief executive officer (CEO) and married to Sathya (Janani Iyer). Murugan is now the CEO of BMTC, who is neck-deep in corruption. He decides to destroy BMTC which is headed by Appa Rao's daughter Maria(Nithya Menen) who wants Murugan dead. He then sets out to kill Murugan. Appa Rao is fascinated by Murugan's prowess in martial arts and wants to keep him away from his daughter Maria who also likes him. The film was shot in Chennai, Malaysia and Singapore. The film's technical crew included Peter Hein, Ananda Krishnan, Faisal Mahmood and the music was composed by Ghibran. "Dhanush" was released on 7 May 2016, which became one of the highest grossing Tamil films of 2016. A. R. Rahman was initially approached to score the music for the film. Salim-Sulaiman and Sharreth were also considered for this film. Ghibran was confirmed in January 2016 and he composed two songs for this film. The satellite rights of the film were sold to Sun TV. "Dhanush" was released on 7 May 2016, which became one of the highest grossing Tamil films of 2016. The Times of India gave it 3 stars out of 5 and wrote, "It is an emotional story told in a humorous tone; mixing friendship, elements of a paisa vasool entertainer and a dash of a revenge plot...the different flavours blend well together".
